UrtheCast is the eye way in the sky

A Calgary based company is planning to offer views few have ever enjoyed, all from the comfort of your own computer chair.

UrtheCast (pronounced EarthCast) is set to operate and launch the world’s first live-streaming high definition broadcast of the Earth.

Two HD cameras will be installed on the International Space Station and will provide breathtaking views such as natural disasters all over the planet.

According to a release, the cameras will provide a 40km wide, high resolution, colour image down to a distance as close as 1.1 metres.

The company says that the service resembles a mixture of YouTube and Google Earth.

They say that users will be able to view the Earth from space and the service will operate seamlessly with Facebook and Twitter.

There is no information on the cost of the project or how much the company will charge users.
